In this outdoor kitchen in Rye, NY in Westchester County the customer came to us with a set list – he wanted an Alfresco outdoor kitchen. He is a serious outdoor cook who envisions using the space year round, so he wanted best in class product.
The island is a 14 foot straight run with a high bar in the back. We provided the design and the homeowner had his hardscape contractor build the structure.
The island is an aesthetic beauty. The countertop and stone blends beautifully with the bluestone pavers. He also chose 3 different cooking vehicles – grill – side burner – power burner – so there is an endless list of cooking styles to enjoy.
Only critique we can levy is that there are no forward facing access doors for the gas line. The mason opted to place the access door on the back of the island. That means if one of the gas products needs to be immediately shut down, the home owner has to scramble around the island to shut the gas off. We prefer access doors for gas/water shutoffs to be easily accessible in the front.
