In this outdoor kitchen in the town of Rye in Westchester County, the homeowner wanted to combine the convenience of a high-end gas grill with the flexibility of a charcoal kamado smoker.
They decided to use a Viking 42″ gas grill. They were already using Viking appliances in their indoor kitchen and were very comfortable with the brand. Underneath the 42″ grill, they used the Blaze BLZ-DDC-39R which is a 39″ unit with 3 storage drawers and one access door.
To the left of the grill they continued using Blaze undercounter products. There is a dual trash / recycle drawer, model BLZ-TREC-DRW and then moving to the far left is a Blaze access door under a sink.
On the right side of the grill they used a standalone Kamado Joe Classic 18″ sitting in a completely open platform. This allows unencumbered access to the Kamado’s ash clean out as well as the bottom air damper.
To the right of the Kamado Joe is the 24″ Marvel outdoor refrigerator, model MO24RAS1RS. This is our most popular 24″ outdoor refrigerator.
There is nothing better than the twin combination of a premium gas grill coupled with a kamado grill. You will be able to cook anything! We also like the idea that the homeowner bucked current trends and didn’t use stone in the island.
Not much to complain about here. They nailed the basics and also were able to work a Kamado in the build as well as run water to the island, and still maintain a decent amount of counter space. Bravo!
