DCS Outdoor Kitchen | Eastchester, NY

This DCS outdoor kitchen package is located in Eastchester, NY in Westchester County.

When the homeowners first visited us, the only thing they knew for sure was the footprint of the patio that was being built by their hardscape contractor.

They told me they planned on building a pergola over the island, so we needed to take that into consideration for the measurements.

Since columns would be needed to erect the pergola there were a few decisions that would need to be made –  most importantly, would the island integrate with the columns (see the “Panama” outdoor kitchen) or would the island sides run in between the columns. In this case the homeowner decided to run the island sides between the column post. While it may not look as seamless, it is much easier to execute.

Outdoor Kitchen Construction

The outdoor kitchen was built out of a cinderblock interior with natural sone veneer. They used a granite countertop with raised bar for seating and placed the electrical plugs in certain points on the raised bar facing.

Other Details on this Outdoor Kitchen

  • The bar seats 8, though I would not place someone directly behind the grill as they will be the recipient of the heat and smoke exhaling through the back of the grill
  • The homeowner used undercounter lighting as well as overhead lights on the pergola
  • The installed a fan in the pergola to move air on dank humid days and more importantly to keep insects away from the area
